"CHALLENGES OF THE ENERGY TRANSITION: LATIN AMERICA'S
POTENTIAL AND PROSPECTS"
As the world is going through an era of energy transition, along with the continuous demand for traditional energy, trends towards new sources are emerging. In this context, the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean have increased their aggregate net energy by more than 50% in the last ten years. However, about 16 million people living in the region still do not have stable access to electricity. What are the specific growth points of the regional energy sector? What role does government regulation play in this process? How is Latin America adapting to global economic changes?

«CLEAN, SUSTAINABLE AND AFFORDABLE ENERGY IN EMERGING
REGIONS: FROM PLANS TO REALISATION»
The transformation of the energy system towards the generation of clean and sustainable energy is essential. This can contribute to the creation of quality jobs and the development of new value chains that contribute to regional economic recovery.

The Latin American and Caribbean region has made considerable progress: it is a world leader in generating electricity from renewable sources, and some countries are already almost completely using renewable energy sources. Biofuels and green hydrogen are also becoming key areas for development. Policies, cost reduction and strategic investments offer a promising future for clean energy in the region. However, for the potential it is necessary to translate the structural benefits into system-wide advances through reforms and regional actions. What specific projects are already demonstrating effectiveness and how can they increase it?

CONFERENCE DESIGN CONCEPT

Ecuador is one of the world leaders in rose export.

The plantations are situated in the Andes’ highlands, providing for roses of ideal shapes and bright colours to essentially grow on solar energy.

Ecuadorean roses are among the most environmentally friendly ones. Their carbon footprint is 3 to 6 times lower compared to roses from the Netherlands or the US.

From a bird’s-eye view, Quito’s rose plantations resemble multicoloured microchips. Their geometry became an inspiration for the concept design of Regional to Global international conference in Quito.
